Our Mission
Open Gears is a community-based organization that strives to provide unique insight into a multitude of STEM careers by hosting events and webinars with professionals, researchers and college students. We hope to spread awareness of the vast, growing potential in the STEM field.
We also desire to be a hub of STEM resources, community events, and current news. All in all, Open Gears seeks to build a network where students can learn about careers and fields from members of our community.

StimulateWe want to ignite an interest in STEM for everyone, and we will accomplish this by hosting events with a variety of speakers that will educate our community about the plethora of opportunities available in STEM.
TeachWe will host career talks and webinars where you will hear and learn about different careers from some of the great professionals in our own community who work with STEM. Students will gain the opportunity to network with speakers and develop relationships beyond our webinars.
EncourageWe realize that young students may not be interested, particularly because STEM is perceived to be difficult and boring. However, we want to encourage others to get involved in STEM by organizing events that will make pursuing STEM more exciting. We also want to play a significant role in connecting students' interests with STEM careers by hosting webinars and providing them with insightful resources to explore their interests.
MotivateOur guest speakers will provide influential pieces of advice which will motivate others to pursue their career and education path. Student may be impacted or motivated to pursue the career of a guest speaker just by attending a career webinar.
